Midwinter Solstice – Paddle Out & Karakia

Timed with the shortest day of the year and signaling the arrival of Matariki, Mount Maunganui is set to host a vibrant Midwinter Solstice celebration across three days.
Throughout the Matariki holiday long weekend, from Friday 20 June to Sunday 22 June, our slice of paradise will come alive with a series of free pop-up events celebrating community through reflection on seasonal and spiritual renewal.

Join us at Pilot Bay for a special opening to our Midwinter Solstice weekend. As the sun sets, we’ll paddle out together and form a large circle on the water with the aim to form an unbroken circle for 60 seconds for a quiet moment of unity and reflection to welcome in the weekend. All are welcome. Bring your board, your mates, and be part of something calm and meaningful.

Tea153 will be bringing down a tea cart for a free cuppa for all attendees, and there will be a $20 House Broth Deal at Master Kong for anyone who signs up!
