Mount Mainstreet Urban Market Closure

After much deliberation and analysis of the Mount Mainstreet Urban Market, the Mount Business Association Board has come to the decision to bring the initiative to a close.

We appreciate that the Sunday market has been an important part of our community for some time, and have not made this decision lightly. We also appreciate that it has played a special part in many of our stallholders’ businesses.

Unfortunately, several factors are currently negatively impacting our market, including the feasibility of the event and the impact that other community markets have on ours.

The Urban Market was born out of a need to compliment our Mount Mainstreet members’ offerings and feed a community need for fresh produce. This need has decreased with time and with the introduction of new members now filling these gaps.

On a more positive note, we hope this isn’t ‘goodbye’ but ‘see you soon’. The Mount Business Association management team and Board are working through many strategic initiatives, and that includes what a future market or similar activation might look like.

The final Mount Mainstreet Urban Market will be held on Sunday, 25 August 2024.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank our community for supporting the markets on Sunday mornings, turning up in sunshine and rain, to buy from our dedicated and talented stallholders.
