PRIDE Picnic 2023

On Saturday 11th March at Coronation Park, Tauranga Moana Pride went bigger and better for the Pride Picnic which was the finale for the newly branded Pride Beach Week. The team behind Tauranga Moana Pride worked tirelessly to give us a week filled with a variety of events and teamed up with local events brand ‘Blabla Events’ to throw a picnic sprinkled with love, color, diversity and inclusivity. The most inspiring and humbling moments from the Pride Picnic was to witness people from every generation showing up to support and immerse themselves in the celebration.

Steven Oates, who has been involved in the Rainbow Charitable Trust and has done a lot of MC and hosting at  Tāmaki Makaurau’s Big Gay Out, hosted the highlight of the day – ‘ WOOF! The Rainbow Dog Show’ which saw well over 50 doggies scattered through the park with the lucky line up strutting the ‘ Best Dressed’ , ‘ Dog and Owner Look Alike’ and ‘ Best Talent’ catwalk.

Local food vendors, support organisations, sponsors including major sponsor Cooney Lees Morgan were on-site for the day along with local MPs, Police, St Johns and our wonderful community rallying and showing up for the worthy celebration.

Mount Mainstreet are so happy to have been a sponsor of Tauranga Moana Pride, and The Pride Team have promised to deliver an even bigger Pride Beach Week for 2024, so stay tuned and keep your eyes peeled. We can’t wait!

A huge thanks to all of our Mount Mainstreet businesses who donated prizes and giveaways for the Pride Picnic :
